FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTONS
The things customers ask us most shipping and freight, orders, warranty and support, and choosing the right laser, MIG or TIG machine.
Shipping & delivery
Smaller orders are generally shipped through Australia Post or another suitable parcel carrier.
Items weighing more than 20kg are shipped by road freight and will generally arrive secured to a pallet or skid.
No. Road freight orders require a commercial or industrial business address.
Residential freight delivery is extremely expensive, so if you cannot provide a suitable business address, your order will be delivered to the nearest available freight depot for collection.
This only applies to larger freight orders. Smaller parcel orders can still be delivered to residential addresses.
A suitable business address is a commercial or industrial property that is open during normal business hours, has safe truck access and has someone available to accept the delivery.
A home business operating from a residential address generally cannot be used for road freight deliveries.
Most heavy orders require a tail-lift delivery unless the receiving address has a forklift and someone available to unload the pallet safely.
Please tell us if you have a forklift available. This helps us select the correct freight service and avoid delays or additional charges.
Please provide:
- The business name and complete delivery address
- A site contact and mobile number
- Normal opening hours
- Whether a forklift is available
- Any access restrictions the freight company needs to know about
Incorrect or incomplete delivery information may result in delays or additional freight charges.
Yes. If you do not have a suitable business address, we can arrange delivery to the nearest practical freight depot.
The freight company will contact you when the order is ready for collection. Identification may be required when collecting it.
Yes. Tracking or consignment information will be sent once your order has been dispatched.
Road freight tracking may not update as frequently as standard parcel tracking. The freight company may also contact you directly to arrange delivery.
Delivery times depend on your location, the freight company and whether the order is travelling to a regional area.
Tracking will be provided once the order leaves our warehouse, but freight delivery dates are estimates and cannot always be guaranteed.
Inspect the packaging before accepting the delivery where possible. If there is visible damage, note it on the delivery paperwork before signing.
Take clear photos of the pallet, packaging and damaged area, then contact us as soon as possible. Please keep all packaging until the issue has been assessed.
Orders & product availability
In Stock means the product is currently available from our warehouse and ready to be prepared for dispatch.
Dispatch times can vary during busy periods or for larger items requiring freight preparation.
A pre-order is a product that is already on its way or expected to arrive within the timeframe shown on the product page.
A special-order product is ordered specifically from the supplier after your order is placed. Lead times are estimates and can be affected by manufacturing, international shipping and customs delays.

Laser cleaners
Laser cleaners can remove rust, paint, oxidation, scale, coatings and surface contamination from metal. They are commonly used for restoration, maintenance, surface preparation and cleaning parts before welding or painting.
Pulsed cleaners offer greater control and are generally better for precision work, restoration, thinner materials and surfaces where protecting the finish is important.
Continuous-wave cleaners are more aggressive and better suited to quickly removing heavy rust, paint, scale and coatings from larger areas.
The RedSabre 300PC is an affordable starting point for general restoration and precision cleaning. The 301PC has a portable suitcase design suited to site work. The 500PC provides greater pulse-cleaning performance in a workshop-style cabinet.
For regular heavy cleaning, the water-cooled 1500XC and 2000XC provide faster continuous-wave cleaning, with the 2000XC offering the highest output in the range.
When the machine is set correctly, laser cleaning can remove contamination while minimising damage to the base material. The correct power, scan width, frequency and travel speed will depend on the material and coating.
We always recommend testing an inconspicuous area before beginning a full job.
A dedicated laser cleaner is built specifically for cleaning. It generally provides a wider cleaning area and better productivity when rust, paint or coating removal makes up most of your workload.
A laser welder’s cleaning mode is useful for occasional cleaning and weld preparation, but it may not replace a dedicated cleaner for daily cleaning work.
In many applications it can. Laser cleaning does not require blasting media and produces less secondary waste. It also allows greater control around edges, detailed parts and areas where aggressive mechanical cleaning may be unsuitable.
The best process will still depend on the coating, surface area and finish required.
These are Class 4 industrial laser systems. They require a controlled work area, suitable laser screens or enclosures, wavelength-rated laser eyewear, protective clothing, fume extraction and trained operators.
The safety setup must be assessed for the individual workplace before operating the machine.
Laser welders
Most RedSabre laser welders combine welding, cleaning and cutting in one machine. This gives fabrication businesses a versatile system for joining metal, cleaning before and after welding, and completing light cutting work.
Laser welding can replace TIG or MIG in many production and fabrication applications. It offers faster travel speeds, lower heat input, reduced distortion and less post-weld cleanup.
It will not replace traditional welding in every situation. Joint design, fit-up, material condition, access and the required weld standard all need to be considered.
The 750 and 1250 are suited to lighter fabrication and businesses entering laser welding. The 1500 is a strong all-round workshop machine, while the 2000 provides greater capacity while remaining on single-phase power.
The refrigeration-cooled 1500X and 2000X are better suited to longer production hours. The three-phase 3000X and industrial 6000 are designed for heavier fabrication and higher-output production.
Yes. Several RedSabre models are available in 240V single-phase configurations, including machines through to the 2000 and selected X-series models.
Higher-output machines such as the 3000X and 6000 require three-phase power. Always confirm the exact electrical requirements before ordering or arranging electrical work.
Depending on the model, RedSabre laser welders can weld mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and selected copper applications.
The correct machine output, shielding gas, wire and settings will depend on the material and thickness being welded.
They can weld with or without filler wire depending on the joint and fit-up. Filler wire helps when bridging small gaps, building fillets or achieving a particular weld profile.
RedSabre laser welders include a wire-feeding solution, with a dual-wire feeder also available for applications requiring a higher filler-wire deposition rate.
Argon or nitrogen is commonly used for laser welding, depending on the material and application. Cutting may use compressed air or nitrogen.
The correct gas and flow rate should always be selected using the machine settings and operating instructions.
Laser welders are Class 4 industrial laser systems. A controlled operating area, laser screens or enclosure, interlocks, wavelength-rated eyewear, protective clothing, fume extraction and trained operators are required.
The area must protect both the operator and anyone nearby from direct and reflected laser energy.
MIG welders
The Cyclone 140E is suited to DIY work and lighter fabrication. The Cyclonei 212 is a portable dual-voltage option for repairs, site work and general workshop use.
The Cyclone 263Pi adds Pulse MIG for everyday fabrication. The Cyclone 253DPI provides Single and Double Pulse MIG for professional work, including aluminium. The Cyclone 503DPI and PowerMTS 400 are designed for heavier industrial and production applications.
Pulse MIG alternates between higher and lower current to control heat while maintaining a stable arc. This can reduce spatter, improve control and help when welding stainless steel, aluminium and thinner materials.
Double Pulse adds a second pulsing cycle that changes the wire-feed speed and heat input. It can produce a more uniform weld appearance while providing additional control over heat and penetration.
It is particularly useful for visible aluminium and stainless fabrication.
Yes, selected models can weld aluminium using a spool gun, push-pull gun or the correct wire-feeding setup. Pulse and Double Pulse models provide greater control for regular aluminium fabrication.
The machine must be fitted with the correct drive rolls, liner, contact tip, filler wire and shielding gas.
Standard MIG welding uses shielding gas. Mild steel commonly uses an argon and CO₂ mix, while aluminium normally uses pure argon.
Selected machines can also run gasless flux-cored wire, which can be useful outdoors or where carrying a gas cylinder is impractical.
Not necessarily. The TIG function on most multiprocess MIG machines is DC TIG, which is suited to mild steel and stainless steel.
AC TIG is normally required for conventional TIG welding of aluminium. Aluminium can still be MIG welded when the machine is correctly equipped.
Duty cycle shows how long the welder can operate at a stated amperage within a ten-minute period before it needs to cool.
For example, a 60% duty cycle means approximately six minutes of welding followed by four minutes of cooling under the specified test conditions.
For lighter panels and general fabrication, 0.8mm wire is a common choice. For heavier work and higher-output machines, 1.0mm or 1.2mm wire may be more suitable.
The best wire size depends on the material thickness, welding current, joint type and required deposition rate.
TIG welders
DC TIG is used for mild steel, stainless steel, chromoly and many copper-alloy applications.
AC TIG adds the ability to weld aluminium and magnesium. If aluminium is part of your work, an AC/DC TIG machine is generally the right choice.
The PowerTIG 185DV is an affordable AC/DC machine for learning, light fabrication and mobile work. The PowerTIG 210EXT adds more advanced pulse and AC controls.
The Typhoon 230 is a strong professional workshop machine with dual-voltage flexibility. The PowerTIG 325EXT and Typhoon 330 are three-phase machines designed for higher-output fabrication and production.
If you only weld steel and stainless, the Power I-TIG 200T Contractor Package provides a compact DC TIG option for workshop and site work.
The Ultimate Packages provide a complete workshop-ready setup. Depending on the package, this includes the Typhoon welder, PowerCool W375 water cooler, PowerCart 330 trolley, an 8-metre water-cooled TIG torch and a NOVA wireless foot pedal.
A water cooler is recommended when welding at higher amperages, running longer welds or using a water-cooled TIG torch.
For shorter jobs at lower amperages, an air-cooled torch may be sufficient. A water-cooled setup provides a smaller, more comfortable torch while managing heat during extended welding.
Pulse TIG cycles between a higher and lower current. This helps control heat input, reduce distortion and maintain a consistent travel rhythm.
It is particularly useful on thin materials, stainless steel, outside corners and jobs where controlling the heat-affected zone is important.
No. TIG welding can be controlled using the torch switch and the machine’s programmed settings.
A foot pedal gives the operator live control over the amperage while welding, which is useful for managing heat around corners, changing joint thicknesses and finishing welds cleanly.
Pure argon is the standard shielding gas for most TIG welding applications, including mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
Gas purity, flow rate, torch setup and coverage all affect weld quality. Grey or contaminated TIG welds are not always caused by low gas flow, so the complete setup should be checked.
Selected models can run from a suitably sized generator providing stable, clean power. Generator requirements vary between machines and must allow for the welder’s maximum input demand.
Confirm the generator requirements for the exact model before connecting it.
